Will I be under the therapists control?

Many people are fearful of hypnotherapy because of what they see in the media, most of which is untrue. In particular, stage hypnosis, which is very different to hypnotherapy, doesn’t have the sophisticated psychology involved. Stage hypnosis has been used for entertainment for decades and the hypnotist selects their subjects very carefully. Usually, the characters are very extrovert and enjoy performing. The bottom line is, nobody has control of your mind if you don’t want them to.

There is no danger in hypnotherapy and inducing a trance like state is perfectly natural. Most of us hypnotise ourselves every day without even realising. A client can wake from a trance at any time, should an emergency arise or should they simply feel uncomfortable, which is very rare as the experience can be so relaxing.
